Mixed Metal, Earth Tone Kitchen
Mixed metal? Yes, you read correctly. It's a little uncomfortable for some, but it's an upcoming trend that, if carried out well, makes for a really beautiful kitchen. If you're someone who has a hard time committing to a single finish in hardware, then this is for you!
For this kitchen, I've incorporated a lot of neutral earth-tones because I didn't want too many contrasting elements. I wanted to create a space that was both inviting and timeless. There's a nice mix between contemporary (sleek, state of the art appliances, new cabinets & backsplash), rustic (hardwood flooring, farmhouse sink, open shelving, striped shades), and transitional (pendant lighting & marble countertops) fixtures that make this space appeal to a wide variety of styles. I think that's really important in in a time where trends come and go so quickly.
Mixed Metal, Earth Tone Kitchen:
01. SubZero Fridge: SubZero refrigerators are among the top-of-the-line in food preservation and clean air filtration
02. Wolf Gas Range: Wolf ranges are some of my favorite. Not only are they super sleek and beautifully designed, but they provide extreme precision and consistency when it comes to cooking.
03. Open Shelving: Open shelving allows for easy access to commonly used kitchen items & appliances, along with a great opportunity to style your shelves with your favorite cookbooks, plants, trinkets, etc.
04. Tea Kettle: Love the throwback of a tea kettle on a gas stove, how quaint!
05. Bar Chairs: These Serena & Lilly rattan bar chairs in "Fog" are absolutely swoon-worthy. I would feel like I was sitting at a French bistro having breakfast every morning in these beauties.
06. Runner: If you haven't noticed already, I'm a big fan of vintage looking rugs. They add so much charm & warmth to a space. The color in this one is so perfect and goes well with the neutral color palette.
07. Kitchen Island/Bar: A nice island adds so much extra counter and work space to a kitchen. This black one from Crate&Barrel would be so beautiful with the black farm sink and the grey cabinets I've picked out for this kitchen.
08. Pendant Lighting: These gold lighting fixtures would make such a statement hanging above the kitchen island.
09. Striped Roman Shades: I'm a huge fan of roman shades recently. I love being able to see out of the windows while I'm doing dishes but also, at night time, have the privacy provided by pulling them down. They're a nice alternative to curtains and take up a fraction of the space.
10. Art: The COLORS in this art from McGee&Co.
11. Trophy Dish: I will always have a place in my heart for vintage, milk glass vessels. Always.
12. Farm Sink: Rustic sinks are really making their way into the spotlight recently. I think they add a lot of charm to a kitchen, and I love incorporating them.
13. Clock: How cute is this minimalist wall clock?
14. Salt & Pepper Shaker: These shakers understand my "mixed metal" concept.
15. Cabinets: Loving the sleek, contemporary design on these cabinets.
16. Marble Countertop Finish: Marble is so timelessly beautiful. Love the classic grey lines in this one.
17. Wall Paint Color: White walls are the perfect background canvas to any space.
18. Hardwood Flooring: Darker stains are really modern and a lovely, classic choice for durable flooring.
19. Hexagon Backsplash: I'm obsessed with this geometric backsplash. It always reminds me of a beehive and is so retro.
What are some of your favorite timeless designs? Let me know in the comments. I would love to incorporate them in future mood boards!
